Lifetime of Canine Wellness

Lifetime of Feline Wellness

Comprehensive Physical Examinations

Early detection of health problems can allow for prompt treatment.  At least once and perhaps twice a year, your pet needs a complete physical examination.  Remember, your pet’s lifespan is shorter than ours and a lot can happen in 12 months.

Vaccinations

We use the highest quality vaccines in order to protect your pet(s) against contagious diseases.  Our computerized reminder system notifies you when your pet is due for immunizations, tests, or treatments.  Our clinic recommends all vaccines be administered on a yearly basis, but we are more than happy to provide titer levels as well.  Please contact us for the best recommendations for your pet’s vaccines.

Complete Medical Services

We provide extensive medical services in order to diagnose your pets condition as quickly and as accurately as possible. To do this, all three clinics have a full-laboratory to run individual, as well as panels of bloodwork to ensure a quick diagnosis.  We also utilize our state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for more complex cases.

Surgical Care

Our hospital is equipped to perform most minor and major surgical procedures from spays and neuters to more complicated emergency, orthopedic, and soft tissue surgeries.

Prior to each surgery, each patient receives a thorough physical examination to identify any existing medical conditions that might endanger your pet’s health.  Because not all problems can be detected on examination, we also suggest preanesthetic blood testing for all patients.  These tests not only give us a more complete picture of your pet’s health, but also allow us to tailor an anesthetic regime that is specific for your pet.

Pain management is part of our pre-operative, intraoperative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol.  All surgical patients including those undergoing routine procedures such as ovariohysterectomy or castrations receive pain control medications.

Dental Care

Good dental care is as important for your pet as it is for you.  Proper dental care not only prevents bad breath and periodontal disease but also prevents infections spreading through the blood stream to your pet’s liver, kidneys, and heart.  This bacterial shower can lead to permanent organ damage affecting your pet’s overall health.

Radiology

We have a complete radiographic suite at our Herrin facility for taking and developing x-rays.  We also offer OFA radiographic evaluations which are routinely performed at our hospital.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive modern technique that produces a visual imprint of the interior of the body.  Ultrasound allows the doctor to achieve a depth of detail that is not possible with radiographs.

Our doctors are well trained to perform abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds.  We also perform a number of simple and detailed pregnancy ultrasounds for all breeds.

In-House Laboratory

All three CHFA facilities are equipped with a full laboratory that provides information that is critical to your sick or injured pet.  Due to our modern, in-house diagnostic equipment, animals can receive appropriate treatment immediately after arriving at our hospital.

Nutrition Counseling

We carry a full line of Purina Pro Plan and Purina prescription diets and treats for our patients.  All clients are welcome to contact us for information on this line of products and what may be best suited for your pet.

Microchip

1 in 3 pets will get lost.  Without ID, 90% won’t return home.  That why we choose HomeAgain!  Home Again went beyond microchip to create the nation’s only proactive pet recover network, which immediately alerts local vets and shelters, to quickly bring your pet back home – safe and sound.  Visit their website at www.homeagain.com for more information.
